Nebraska football’s newest tradition in 2004 sees fans creating tunnel to welcome team to Memorial Stadium
It’s the newest tradition in the Huskers storied football program. It’s called the Walk. I was kind of scared to get off the bus two hours and 15 minutes before each home game. The Huskers arrive at Memorial Stadium by bus and the fans show up in force. I couldn’t believe it like stepping off the bus. You know, all those people out there like Brady and 100 yards. It was man, it was just full of red and it was, it was, I couldn’t believe my people were there waiting for us and it was cool. You know, everybody was out there clapping for us. I just had the fans form *** tunnel for the players to walk through, winding all the way to the South Stadium locker room. Let’s go. It was really, really motivating, I guess people, you know, cheering you on as you walk down and, you know, I really liked it and I think all the players did. Freshman running back, Brandon Jackson sure does. And it was just like, oh my God, but he shouldn’t be surprised. Husker fans are reputed to be the best in college football. This is just the latest example of them walking, the walk fans show so much love to us players. It’s, you know, it’s unbelievable and it feels great. *** lot of people was telling me all the stuff, you know, all the, all the things about the fans and how they all come before the game. And, you know, I just never expected all this. You know, it’s just, it’s *** dream.
