It may seem early to be thinking about fall, with the weather in Phoenix still reaching well over 100 degrees daily. But despite what the weather app would have you believe, fall is truly just around the corner. Or, at least, it is at Starbucks, where the cozy season is ushered in with the arrival of the pumpkin spice latte.
The PSL was first developed in the early 2000s and, in the years since, has become a defining pillar of autumn. The drink, made with cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg and topped with whipped cream and a dash of pumpkin pie topping, is consistently the coffee giant’s best-selling seasonal item. Which may explain why they roll it out so early. But how early?
Here’s when fellow fall lovers can expect the return of the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks.
When does pumpkin spice return to Starbucks in 2024?
Starbucks announced that the fall menu will drop on Thursday, Aug. 22.

If the date seems early, that’s because it is. The fall menu release date has been getting increasingly earlier over the last several years. In 2023, it was released on Aug. 24. In 2022, it was available on Aug. 30.
