She really can do it with a broken heart.
Taylor Swift surprised guests at the final show of her European Eras Tour in London with the premiere of the music video for The Tortured Poets Department song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” after she wrapped the show with her usual performance of “Karma.”
The music video for the TTPD darling features the first behind-the-scenes look at her year-plus-long tour that kicked off last March in Arizona and stopped in major cities around the world.
The nearly four-minute video includes shots of Swift’s background dancers and tour crewmembers. It also answers questions fans have had about aspects of the show, like where she goes when she “dives” into the stage and how her now-famous cleaning cart gets her to the stage before the performance starts.
The superstar wrapped the European leg of her Eras Tour with five shows in a row at Wembley Stadium in London, where she brought out frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff for a mashup of “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “Getaway Car.”
Fellow “Florida!!!” singer Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) also made a surprise appearance for the Eras Tour debut performance of their joint song from The Tortured Poets Department.
The music video is only the second to drop from Swift’s most recent album, which was released in April and features already-hit songs like “Fortnight,” “Down Bad” and “So Long London.”
“I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” is speculated to be about her breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn, with whom she ended things right before the album’s release. However, some also believe it could be about The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, who she was rumored to be dating before embarking on her current relationship with Kansas City Chief tight end Travis Kelce.
The Eras Tour takes a brief break now until it kicks off once again in Miami on Oct. 18.
