Everton succumb to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Brighton at Goodison Park. The Toffees started brightly and looked the more threatening in the early stages of the game, but it was the Seagulls who opened the scoring. Minteh‘s low-driven cross found Mitoma at the back post, and he only had to tap into an empty net. After the break, Brighton found a second as Welbeck‘s well-placed effort from the edge of the penalty area found its way into the bottom corner. Things went from bad to worse for the Merseyside outfit as Young brought down Mitoma, who was through on goal, and the referee produced a red card. Late in the game, Brighton struck once again as Adingra drifted in from the right-hand side and fired into the bottom corner from just inside the penalty area. Everton will be looking to bounce back away to Tottenham next week, while Brighton host Manchester United. That’s all for today, goodbye!
