Footwear retail business Metro Brands Limited has named Nandadeep Jayakar as business head for the Indian arm of multi-brand footwear business Foot Locker. Metro Brands Limited launched Foot Locker in India this year under a licensing agreement.
“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as business head Footlocker India,” announced Nandadeep Jayakar on his Linkedin page. Jayakar has over 27 years of executive leadership experience, according to his profile.
Jayakar is also the senior vice president at footwear business Metro Brands Limited and stepped into the role two months ago, according to his Linkedin page. The executive has also held leadership positions at businesses including Adidas India, Sony, and Future Group among others.
“As one of the leading footwear retailers in India, we take pride in resonating with the pulse of our customers,” said Metro Brands Limited’s Sports Division president for e-commerce and customer relationship management Alisha Rafique Malik, India Retailing reported. “We are excited to elevate sneaker culture in the country with Nandadeep’s vast experience guiding us on this journey.”
Metro Brands Limited plans to open its first brick-and-mortar store for Foot Locker in October this year and focus on metro locations for its initial expansion. The licensing agreement bolsters Metro Brands Limited’s sneaker and athleisure offerings.
