Arike Ogunbowale is the WNBA All-Star Game MVP after the Dallas Wings guard put on an impressive performance to help Team WNBA get past Team USA 117-109 on Saturday.
Ogunbowale finished with 34 points and six assists, leading both teams in scoring while remaining scorching hot from deep, nailing eight of her 13 three-point attempts. Ogunbowale’s 34 points set the record for the most scored in the All-Star game, and what’s more impressive is that all of them came in the second half.

On the Team USA side, Breanna Stewart had a commendable performance with 31 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to propel the United States Women’s National Team to a win.
A’Ja Wilson also put up a solid game with 22 points and six rebounds, and veteran Diana Taurasi added 14 points.
After the win behind Ogunbowale’s heater, fans praised the star and Team WNBA for beating a tough USA squad.

Team WNBA consisted of some of the best players in the league, but ultimately ones who weren’t selected to compete for the United States in the Olympics in Paris. Perhaps those players used the snub as motivation, leading them to a fired-up performance.
For Team USA, taking on a talented Team WNBA squad should serve as a good primer for the Olympics. Team USA will play their first game in Paris on July 29 when they take on Japan.
