Gypsy Rose Blanchard is going to be a mom.
She posted a video on YouTube on Tuesday announcing that she and her boyfriend, Ken Urker, are expecting their first child.
“Well … the rumors are true!” she wrote in the caption for the video. “Ken and I are so excited to start our family together and i can’t wait to share my journey with you here on YouTube and my other social media platforms. Thank you for all your support so far and i can’t wait to see our family grow.”
She also shared the news on Instagram along with professional photos of her and Urker, writing: “We are proud to announce we are expecting our first child in January 2025💗”
In the YouTube video, Blanchard said she’s 11 weeks pregnant and noted that the pregnancy was “not planned” and “completely unexpected.” “But we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood,” she added.
Addressing concerns, she said: “I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother, and I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to become a mother.”
Blanchard added, “When I found out I was pregnant, nothing else mattered,” including drama on social media. She said she and Ken are in a good place and that she’s focused on her health.
“It’s an amazing feeling when your whole world shifts,” she said. “And suddenly it’s not about you; it’s not about anything other than the tiny little life that’s inside you that you are now in charge of protecting. And that little tiny life is a baby, a little tiny human that’s yours, that you have to make sure that you protect, you love, you take care of, and all of the things that I wished I could have had when I was little.”
Blanchard got emotional at this part, and continued: “All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby. Knowing that, I am a mother now, and I am happy, and I just want to be a good mother for my child. I want to be everything my mother wasn’t.”
As a reminder, Blanchard was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2016 after she pleaded guilty to persuading Nicholas Godejohn, a boyfriend she met online, to kill her mother. Dee Dee Blanchard had forced Blanchard to pretend for years that she was suffering from serious illnesses, including leukemia and muscular dystrophy. She was released on parole from Missouri’s Chillicothe Correctional Center on Dec. 28 after serving 85 percent of her original sentence.
Since then, her life has been a whirlwind of navigating paparazzi and unexpected fame (she was confronted with cameras on her first day out while shopping for a new pair of shoes), filing for divorce from husband Ryan Anderson (whom she met and wed while in prison) and reuniting with her ex-fiancé, Urker (whom she also met while in prison).
She’s been been featured in two Lifetime docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which debuted in January and included her interviews from prison, and Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, which debuted in June and documents her life immediately following her release from prison.
In May, Blanchard talked to The Hollywood Reporter about her new show and her relationship with Urker. Asked if she was happy, she replied: “Yes, I’m happy. I’m finally happy.”
She also acknowledged the rumors of her pregnancy, noting that those would be addressed in her current Lifetime series. The season finale of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up airs July 22.
