The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council held separate meetings with the finance minister and the minister of labour and employment and youth affairs and sports to discuss issues facing the gem and jewellery industry in the post-election landscape.
A team of GJEPC leadership including chairman Vipul Shah and vice chairman Kirit Bhansali recently met with finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with policy advisor Monika Mohta, the GJEPC announced on its website. Discussing issues currently affecting the jewellery industry and its businesses, the GJEPC advocated for the sector in terms of policy and direction.
“We are grateful for the finance minister’s time and her understanding of the unique challenges our industry faces,” said GJEPC chairman Vipul Shah, the GJEPC reported on its website. “We look forward to working closely with the government to address these issues and bolster the industry’s contribution to the national economy.”
The GJEPC leadership team also met with minister of labour and employment and youth affairs and sports Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. Vipul Shah, Kirit Bhansali, and GJEPC executive director Sabyasachi Ray brought up issues faced by gem and jewellery workers as well as other issues currently faced by the industry. The discussion also focused on reforms needed to both address current challenges and promote growth.
