The video of the incident, which took near Asif Nagar cross roads, went viral.
At around 10.30pm, when Qutubuddin was walking alone on the road, the accused Tahir, Sheikh Aman, Zaveer and others attacked him.The victim on seeing that the accused were close, tried to flee, but he was caught and beaten. When he tried to escape, he was chased and then killed. The whole incident took place in full public glare. A man tried to stop the attack, but in vain.
After the victim was repeatedly stabbed and beaten with a stick, he died on the road. Police said Qutubuddin was allegedly behind the killing of Tahir’s brother a few months ago. On knowing that Qutubuddin was released on bail, the accused did a recce to track his movements.
The murder was captured on a phone by a witness. After the murder, the accused fled from the spot. Asif Nagar police registered a case under section 302 (murder) of IPC and investigation was underway.
